WORLDMUSIC  &  SOUNDS FROM PORTUGAL

OCARINA was established at the end of the seventies in a typical neighborhood of Lisbon "Bairro Alto" with a shop specialized in Portuguese traditional crafts and instruments. In 1982, the scope of Ocarina was enlarged to other cultural activities: a restaurant and a concert house. In this room Ocarina presented concerts, theatre plays, painting exhibitions, book and musical record releases  workshops... Ocarina became a meeting point to artists and intellectuals, many of them participating in the cultural activities as artists, actors or creators. Twelve years later (Nov.1997)  Ocarina  presents a new project linked to music, performing as a tour and booking agency, music producer and record company.

As record company Ocarina released, until now, 30 albums and one DVD distributed by the following musical styles: Fado, new traditional Portuguese music, African music.  As music producer and booking agency specialized in world music, Ocarina represents prestigious and gifted traditional / contemporary artists and bands, cooperating  with festivals, theatres, tour and booking agencies and other cultural agents in several countries.

The aim of Ocarina is to promote the Music from Portugal worldwide and to present in Portugal the best bands and artists from the several cultures of the world.
